After six flights, two taxis and a five hour boat trip, we arrived in Tanjung Putting National park in Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan). We lived on a boat for a week basing ourselves at Camp Leaky, where a research centre set up in the early 1970’s. The Orang-utans here are used to seeing humans, which offers excellent photo opportunities to see these fantastic animals in the wild. When we weren’t photographing orang-utans, the gibbons, spiders and insects kept the camera working.
I will be back in 2009 to work with a charity out there and, despite the heat and humidity, can’t wait to get back!
